The top rung of the JIS G3141 drawing ladder — SPCC to SPCD to SPCE — for panels that must pull deep without splitting. Cold rolled, batch annealed for r-value, and skin-passed for a controlled surface.
Most press shops stock SPCC and switch up only when a die starts tearing. SPCE is the grade you move to when the part geometry — not the die — is the limit.
SPCD covers moderate draws; SPCE tightens carbon control and guarantees higher elongation, so corners pull sharper and deeper cups run without intermediate annealing. The cost step is small, the reject difference is not.
Choose SPCE when draw depth or corner radius is near the forming limit.SPCC is commercial quality — fine for bending and shallow stamping, but its elongation band is lower and r-value is not controlled. On a deep draw it tears at the die radius or wrinkles in the flange.
Do not substitute SPCC where the blank must thin and flow.DC04 (EN 10130) is the usual European counterpart of SPCE; DC05 sits closer to SPCEN. If your drawing is governed by a European print, confirm the elongation band and surface designation before swapping.
Specify the governing standard; we supply both designations.Values per JIS G3141; actual heats confirmed on the Mill Test Certificate.

| Elongation, 0.25 – <0.40 mm | ≥ 32% | L₀ = 50 mm, per JIS G3141 by thickness band |
| Elongation, 0.40 – <0.60 mm | ≥ 34% | |
| Elongation, 0.60 – <1.60 mm | ≥ 36 – 37% | |
| Elongation, 1.60 – 2.50 mm and over | ≥ 38 – 39% | |
| Hardness (typ.) | ≤ 91 HRB | Annealed, before skin pass |
| r-value (plastic strain ratio, typ.) | ≥ 1.8 | r₉₀ — key deep-drawing indicator, indicative |
Indicative only. r-value and n-value are confirmed by tensile test on your gauge when required at RFQ.
Substitution must be confirmed against your governing standard — elongation bands and surface designations differ by source.

0.7–0.9 mm SPCE drawn 120–160 mm deep with door-handle pocket radii below 5 mm. High r-value keeps wall thickness above minimum at the deepest corner; dull finish holds the draw lubricant where it is needed.
1.0–1.2 mm multi-stage draw with a re-draw ring. SPCE runs two or three operations without intermediate annealing, holding dimensional stability on the sealing flange for the gasket joint.
0.5–0.6 mm spun-and-drawn shells where wall thinning controls balance and spin stiffness. Consistent r-value across the coil keeps the drawn wall uniform from first to last blank.
0.6–1.0 mm drawn cup with a stepped side wall for bearing seating. SPCE delivers the clean 90° corner and tight side-wall tolerance that deep-drawn motor cans demand.
Read this before you order, so the grade matches the die.
Use SPCE when your blank draws deeper than about half its width, corners run below ~5–8 mm radius, or you need a guaranteed elongation band and an r-value you can put on the inspection report. It suits multi-stage draws, re-draws without intermediate annealing, and painted outer panels where split rejects at the punch radius are your main scrap driver.
Do not use SPCE for load-bearing structure — a 270 MPa tensile is a forming grade, not a strength grade. For chassis frames and cross members use SAPH440 hot rolled structural steel; for dent-resistant painted outer skins with corrosion protection, HC180YD+Z bake hardening galvanized steel is the better economic call. SPCE is the forming substrate, not the final strength.
Pair it with DC05/SPCEN (EN/JIS) for the deepest single-piece draws, with fine blanking steel where the same part needs a sheared functional edge, and with controlled lubrication at the press to keep the r-value working for you.
The box-annealing cycle — soak and slow cool — sets the texture that gives SPCE its deep-drawing behavior. Rushed cycles read as splits at the die, not on the certificate.
A light final pass removes yield-point elongation (Lüders lines) so blanks form without stretcher strains, and fixes the surface roughness class you asked for.
Coil widths for progressive and transfer press lines, or cut-to-length and leveled sheet for blanking feeders — width tolerance and edge burr confirmed at quoting.
We confirm surface roughness and flatness against your draw process and advise on lubricant compatibility for heavy reduction draws.
Stick with SPCE while your draw is split-limited: the cost of moving down to SPCD rarely beats the cost of the rejects you came from. Move up to SPCEN or DC05 when a part draws deeper than SPCE's guaranteed band at your gauge. Move down to SPCD only for shallow, generously radiused parts where you can accept a wider property band. If the part then goes through paint or needs dent resistance, the economical sequence is often SPCE for the forming plus a bake-hardening skin rather than a thicker SPCE panel. For structural duty, step across to the hot rolled range entirely.
How plastic strain ratio is measured, what a good value looks like per grade, and why it predicts splits better than elongation alone.
