Two JIS G3141 cold-rolled grades — SPCC at C ≤0.12% for commercial forming, SPCD at C ≤0.08% with r-value ≥1.4 for deep drawing. Supplied skin-passed and slit for appliance shells, automotive panels and hardware drawn parts.
SPCC and SPCD are the two most widely specified cold-rolled grades in the JIS system. The gap between them is not strength — it is drawability. SPCD's lower carbon and controlled texture give it the r-value needed for deep draws that would split SPCC.
SPCC (C ≤0.12%) is the workhorse for panels, brackets and simple bends — cost-effective at volume. SPCD (C ≤0.08%, r-value ≥1.4) is the upgrade for deep-drawn shells and cups where wall thinning must be controlled. The lower carbon and texture control separate a successful draw from a split.
SPCC for shallow forms; SPCD for deep draws.SPCE (Extra-deep drawing quality) pushes drawability further with interstitial-free chemistry and r-values above 1.8 — the grade for severe draws like automotive fuel tanks. SPCC / SPCD cover the broad middle ground of forming requirements at lower cost.
SPCC/SPCD for standard draws; SPCE for severe deep drawing.SAE1010 is specified under SAE/ASTM for structural and fine-blanking components with tighter chemistry. SPCC / SPCD are JIS sheet grades oriented toward forming and surface quality. For appliance panels and drawn shells, use the JIS grades; for fine-blanked mechanisms, use SAE1010.
SPCC/SPCD for panels and draws; SAE1010 for precision blanks.SPCD tightens the carbon cap and residual limits to improve drawability. Actual heat chemistry confirmed on MTC.
| Element | SPCC (%) | SPCD (%) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon (C) | ≤ 0.12 | ≤ 0.08 | Lower carbon in SPCD improves ductility and r-value |
| Manganese (Mn) | ≤ 0.50 | ≤ 0.45 | Deoxidizer; controlled for forming consistency |
| Phosphorus (P) | ≤ 0.035 | ≤ 0.030 | Residual; tighter in SPCD for drawability |
| Sulfur (S) | ≤ 0.035 | ≤ 0.035 | Residual; controlled for surface quality |

SPCD's higher elongation and r-value translate to deeper draws without wall splitting.
| Grade | Tensile (typ.) | Elongation (typ.) | r-value (typ.) | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SPCC (commercial) | 270 – 380 MPa | ≥ 30% | ~1.0 – 1.3 | Panels, brackets, simple bends, shallow draws |
| SPCD (drawing) | 270 – 350 MPa | ≥ 38% | ≥ 1.4 | Deep-drawn shells, cups, automotive panels |
Indicative only. Values depend on gauge, skin-pass reduction and test direction. Typical per standard, actual confirmed on MTC.
Forming limits and r-values differ between standards. Confirm against your governing specification before substitution.

| JIS | SPCC | SPCD | Base reference (JIS G3141) |
| ASTM (USA) | A366 commercial quality | A366 drawing quality | ASTM A366 / A619 cold-rolled carbon steel sheet |

Equivalents are approximate. For regulated parts, confirm chemistry and forming limits against your governing spec and the MTC.
0.4–1.2 mm SPCD strip, deep-drawn into refrigerator inner doors, washing machine drums and microwave cavities. The r-value ≥1.4 controls wall thinning during the draw, and the controlled surface finish ensures uniform paint adhesion after powder coating. SPCC is used for outer panels and back plates where draws are shallower.
0.6–1.5 mm SPCC / SPCD strip for door inner panels, seat brackets, dashboard supports and HVAC housings. SPCD is specified for components with deep flanges or tight corner radii; SPCC covers flat panels and simple brackets. Both are commonly pre-phosphated or oiled for weld-through and corrosion resistance.
0.3–1.0 mm SPCC strip for electrical enclosures, junction boxes, lamp reflectors and small hardware housings. The commercial-quality grade handles the moderate draws and bends typical of these parts at a lower cost than drawing-quality material. Surface finish is matched to the painting or plating process.
0.3–0.8 mm SPCD strip for cylindrical and rectangular deep-drawn cups, filter housings and small pressure vessels. The high r-value and elongation allow draw ratios that would split commercial-quality material. For severe draws requiring r-value >1.8, see our SPCE extra-deep-drawing grade.
Multi-pass cold rolling to your gauge, followed by a light skin-pass to control yield-point elongation and surface finish — preventing stretcher-strain marks on drawn panels. Read our cold-rolled processing guide.
Width tolerance and edge condition managed on our slitting line — coils for progressive-die presses, sheets for forming feeders. Edge burr controlled to avoid cracking at draw radii.
Matte (dull) or bright (skin-passed) finishes matched to your coating or painting process. Surface roughness Ra documented on the inspection report. See our surface finish guide.
Anti-rust oil applied for storage and transit, with oil weight confirmed at quoting. For parts going directly into welding or painting, specify dry or light-oil condition at RFQ.
These grade families share material, processing or application territory with SPCC / SPCD.
SPCC / SPCD / SPCE / DC01–DC06 grades for forming, deep drawing and commercial-quality panels.
Galvanized, galvalume and aluminized coatings over cold-rolled substrates for outdoor and appliance use.
Spheroidized SAE1010 / SAE1035 grades for clean shear faces in mechanism and structural blanks.
