At a glanceHS-FINEB provides six integrated steel strip processing services under one quality system in Shanghai. Slitting cuts coils to customer width with controlled burr; cut-to-length and leveling produces flat sheets to fixed length; spheroidizing annealing softens high-carbon and alloy strip for clean fine blanking and cold forming; heat treatment delivers quenched, tempered or normalized mechanical properties; precision cold rolling holds tight thickness tolerance and surface finish; and OEM/ODM custom handles special specifications, packaging and toll processing. Each service includes defined process parameters, applicable material ranges, typical applications and quality control points. Process parameters are recorded per batch and traceable by heat number, with a Mill Test Certificate issued on every shipment.
Service 01

Slitting

Coils are slit to customer width on precision slitting lines. Circular shear knives cut the strip longitudinally, with knife clearance matched to material thickness to minimize burr. Width tolerance and burr height are verified at the line and again at final inspection. Narrow widths for progressive-die stamping and wide widths for blanking feeders are both handled.

ParameterTypical RangeNotes
Width tolerance±0.05 mm (narrow) / ±0.10 mm (wide)Confirmed at RFQ per spec
Burr height≤ 5% of thickness (typ.)Managed via knife clearance & overlap
Minimum slit widthConfirm at RFQDepends on thickness & material strength

Spheroidizing Annealing

Batch furnaces run a controlled heating and slow-cool cycle that converts lamellar pearlite into spheroidal carbide. The result is a soft, ductile strip that blanks cleanly and cold-forms without cracking — the standard condition for fine blanking and cold-forming grades. Hardness is controlled by cycle temperature and hold time, and verified on process samples from each batch.

ParameterTypical RangeNotes
Annealing temperature680 – 760 °C (typ.)Grade-specific; confirmed per material
Hardness after annealing160 – 200 HB (high-carbon typ.)Grade and section dependent

Heat Treatment

Quenching, tempering and normalizing lines deliver finished mechanical properties for spring, blade and structural applications. Quenching hardens the strip to target hardness; tempering relieves stress and tunes toughness; normalizing refines grain structure for improved uniformity. Hardness ranges are specified per grade and section, with results recorded on the MTC.

ProcessHardness Range (typ.)Typical Use
Quenching50 – 62 HRC (grade dependent)Spring steel, tool steel, saw blade strip
Tempering38 – 52 HRC (after quench)Spring temper, blade temper, toughness tuning

Service FAQ

Processing questions, answered

What steel strip processing services does HS-FINEB offer?
Six services: slitting, cut-to-length and leveling, spheroidizing annealing, heat treatment (quenching, tempering, normalizing), precision cold rolling, and OEM/ODM custom processing. All are performed in-house in Shanghai with documented process parameters and MTC on every coil. Our order process page shows how these services fit into the full procurement flow.
What width tolerance can you hold on slitting?
Width tolerance depends on material thickness and width. Typical tolerance is ±0.05 mm for narrow precision widths and ±0.10 mm for wider coils. Exact tolerance is confirmed at RFQ based on your specification and verified before dispatch. Read our guide to edge burr in precision strip for how burr is controlled.
What is spheroidizing annealing and when is it needed?
Spheroidizing annealing is a thermal process that converts lamellar pearlite into spheroidal carbide, producing a soft, ductile strip that blanks cleanly and cold-forms without cracking. It is standard for fine blanking and cold-forming grades such as SAE1078 high-carbon strip. Read our complete guide to spheroidizing annealing for process details.
Can you process material supplied by the customer?
Yes. We offer toll processing for customer-supplied coil — annealing, rolling, slitting and leveling. Send your coil specification and target condition and we will quote the processing fee. Minimum batch and incoming inspection apply. This falls under our OEM / ODM custom service.
How do you control quality across processing steps?
Each service has defined quality control points: incoming material verification, in-process dimensional and hardness checks, final inspection (chemistry, mechanicals, dimensions, surface), and MTC issuance. Process parameters are recorded per batch and traceable by heat number. Our automotive seat recliner application page shows how these controls translate into part-level quality.
