Servo-Hydraulic vs. Standard Hydraulic Fine Blanking Press

How Each Drive Works

A standard hydraulic press runs a fixed-displacement pump at constant speed, using valves to control flow and pressure. A servo-hydraulic press instead varies pump motor speed directly, matching hydraulic power output to the instantaneous demand of each stage of the stroke.

Energy Use

Because a servo-hydraulic system doesn't run the pump at full speed during idle or light-load portions of the cycle, it typically uses meaningfully less energy over a shift than an equivalent standard hydraulic press — particularly on parts with a light approach/return stroke relative to the cutting stroke.

Control Flexibility

Programmable velocity profiles let a servo-hydraulic press slow down for delicate tooling contact and speed up elsewhere in the stroke, which a fixed-speed pump system cannot replicate as precisely.

Which to Choose
